With the unexpected wintry weather behind us, we now look forward to more pleasant walking conditions for our Spring and early Summer programme. See the menu above for a link to the Walks Programme / Find a Walk pages.
There is quite a lot of activity planned for the coming four months. There are walks for every Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday as well extra evening walks in June and July. We are also contributing to and leading for the Essex Festival of Walks in late May.
Walking to West Hanningfield
Following the survey of the Chelmsford Centenary Circle that our Group did last year, we will undertake the job of replacing many of the signs during Spring this year. When completed a celebratory two day walk around the Circle is to be organised later in September.
It is ten years since we began our epic Thames Path walk from its source near Cirencester to the Thames Barrier in London. We felt we should celebrate this too by revisiting some of the favourite sections via coach trips from Chelmsford. So in May we shall walk from Richmond to Hampton Court. In June it will be Reading to Henley. In July it will be Henley to Cookham. Reports of these ventures will appear in future Newsletters and recorded in our collection of Photos and Videos.
Danbury to Bicknacre in March
A lot of progress has been made in planning our annual Group walking holiday in August this year. We shall be staying in a hall of residence at Sheffield University for a week of walking in the Peak District National Park. A number of long and short walk options are planned and a local Sheffield coach company will take us to the various walking venues each day, as well as transporting us to and from our base in Essex.
Becoming a member of the C&B Group gives you easy access to all these special events, but if you just want to try out a few local walks in Essex, please refer to the Find a Walk Pages. You are very welcome to join us.
