We wish to advise you of the on-line reporting procedure to Essex County Council for any footpath problem you may encounter.  This method of reporting is now preferred by ECC and is endorsed by RA policy.

Before going on-line you need to collect your details, which should include:

·       The map Grid Reference at the problem location.

·        The local parish and footpath number.

·        A clear description of the problem you encountered.

If you have difficulty finding the right path information, please e-mail John or Kevin for assistance.

The Essex County Council on-line site is very easy to use.

1) Click on http://www.essex.gov.uk/Travel-Highways/Report-a-highway-problem/Pages/Default.aspx
to display the "Report a Fault" page

2) Use the map zoom controls to identify the site of the fault as accurately as possible and add a marker to that point.

3) Proceed to the next page to select the type of fault (e.g Path or footway defect)

4) Proceed to the next page to describe in detail the location and nature of the problem.

5) Proceed to the final page to fill in your personal details.

(Note: this is optional. Anonymous fault submissions are acceptable)

6) Finally press the "submit" button to report the fault to the Council.

In addition please advise John or Kevin of your Complaint, Enquiry No.
and any eventual result, by e-mail contact.

This process should also be used for reporting faults outside our immediate Chelmsford and Maldon Districts.
