It was rare to find very much mud on our boots in the hot dry Summer that we have just enjoyed. Our Group certainty made the best of the ‘Shorts and Tee Shirt’ weather although for some, walking in the very hot conditions was a bit too much.
As Autumn approaches we have another good programme of walks (see Menu Walks Programme/Find A Walk) which should satisfy everyone.
The Chelmer and Blackwater Navigation from Heybridge Basin
From May onwards we held a great season of Social Events - largely around four Coach Rambles and the Annual Group Walking Holiday. There are video recordings of the Coach rambles which can be found under the website menu More/Walks Videos. The four walks in May, June, July and September were: Richmond Park to Hampton Court, Reading to Henley and Henley to Cookham (along the Thames Path), and Frant to Penshurst. .

Also on the Homepage you will see a slideshow of photos taken on our Group Holiday in the Peak District. We stayed at Sheffield University / Endcliffe Village Halls of Residence for 6 days in August, which was out of term time. All meals were provided as well coach transport. Places we walked included: the Chatsworth Estate, Moorlands above Ladybower Reservoir, The Longshaw Estate and Hathersage, Monyash to Bakewell, Millersdale to Castleton and Cromford.
Centenary Way walkers in Galleywood
In September we also organised a special two day weekend following our local 22 mile Chelmsford Centenary Circle. This was to celebrate the 30 years since the Circle was first laid out in 1988, which itself commemorates a 100 years since the initiation of Chelmsford as a Borough. The Circle is marked with badges showing Queen Victoria and Queen Elizabeth the 2nd. Along with our regular Programme of Weekly Walks, Social Events like these are run every year. It is one of the advantages of joining the Chelmer and Blackwater Ramblers. Kind Regards David, Carole and Graham
